Meadowland Park Conservancy Celebrates First Year
Meadowland Park Conservancy Celebrates First Year It's their first birthday and the best gift you could give is helping to re-landscape the Skate House in #meadowlandparknj! Join us to help plant beautiful, native plants around the building and also to hear from renowned NWF TV host and naturalist David Mizejeski and gardening expert Joy Yagid. Be sure to RSVP on by clicking the Facebook event and we'll see you on November 14! Date: Sunday, Nov 14th, 11am - 2pm Location: Meadowland Park Skate House The Evolution of the American Flag
The Evolution of the American Flag Durand-Hedden House, 1:00 - 4:00 pm The American flag did not always look the way it does today. From the flag’s creation in 1777 until 1912, there was no standard design. At 2 pm, J. Richard Pierce will help Durand-Hedden House visitors understand how the evolution of the flag’s design illuminates the personal and historical stories woven into the framework of our nation. Drawing upon examples from his Pierce Collection of American Parade Flags, he will explore the timeless appeal the Stars and Stripes holds for generations of Americans. Because no laws governed the placement of stars before 1912, the design was up to the flag maker, resulting in a wide range of creative interpretations over the course of our history. The House and Country Store will be open from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Proof of vaccination and masks required for everyone’s safety. https://www.durandhedden.org/about Who is Caring for You? A Long Walk Home: Book Talk with Maplewood Author Joe StruppMaplewood Memorial Library on Zoom, 7 to 8 p.m.A Long Walk Home is the true story of Carol Ann Farino, a pretty, popular Columbia High School student who was strangled to death nearly 55 years ago, and whose killer was never found. But more than just her story, it is also the tale of her younger sister, Cynthia, who was 11 at the time and remains in New Jersey. She spoke to Strupp at length about what happened to her sister, the impact on her then and now, and how police seem to be ignoring her inquiries for information, records and help. Joe Strupp is an award-winning reporter with more than 30 years of experience in newspapers, magazines, television, radio, and the Internet. His background spans nearly all beats, from the environment to sports. Register at https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUkdu2rrjsjHda8IxaFP1cAFGtG4dc5FsJK

SWEET PLANTAIN: A concert presented by Classic Maplewood
SWEET PLANTAIN: A concert presented by Classic Maplewood The Woodland, 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm, Free This free family-friendly concert bridges the gap between generations and genres of Latin American music. The diverse repertoire of SWEET PLANTAIN heavily features the works of notable Latin American composers like Astor Piazzolla, Mongo Santamaría, Aldemaro Romero, and Paquito D'Rivera, alongside the original compositions and arrangements of the quartet’s own members. Separately hailing from Venezuela, Argentina, Russia, and the Bronx, together these musicians give voice to a sound that is both rooted in tradition and entirely new. | 29 | 30 Caregivers Support Group

- The Evolution of the American Flag- Sunday Nov 14, 2021 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM - The Evolution of the American Flag
 - Durand-Hedden House, 1:00 - 4:00 pm
 - The American flag did not always look the way it does today.
 - The House and Country Store will be open from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Proof of vaccination and masks required for everyone’s safety. https://www.durandhedden.org/about

 - A Long Walk Home is the true story of Carol Ann Farino, a pretty, popular Columbia High School student who was strangled to death nearly 55 years ago, and whose killer was never found. Register at

- SWEET PLANTAIN: A concert presented by Classic Maplewood- Sunday Nov 28, 2021 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM - SWEET PLANTAIN: A concert presented by Classic Maplewood
 - The Woodland, 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm, Free
 - This free family-friendly concert bridges the gap between generations and genres of Latin American music.
